ABOUT US
Hello I’m Shilo. I am a wife and a momma to our beautiful daughter Willa; who brightens our days like no other. I say that first because… well, my family is always at the top of my thoughts when I’m thinking “about” me. In my life, family comes second only to God himself. I think family is really at the core of why I love photography so much.
In my grandma’s home, you can barely see the color of the paint on the walls because every square inch of wall space is covered with framed images of family. Every image is full of stories and memories from that specific time in life. She has a story for each picture and if you have the time (a whole lot of time) she is happy to share the stories with you.
I have a similar passion for images. I love creating beautiful timeless images that I know you and your family will cherish for many years to come. Printed images are a beautiful record of your life story and getting to play a small role in that is an awesome honor.
I specialize in High School Senior photography and believe that the experience you have, and the memories you make while shooting your senior pictures will be a huge part of why you will love them. You can plan on having an amazing time at your photo shoot.
I started out in photography back when camera’s used film and big hair, too much make up, and pegged pants were a thing. The best part of all of that was the film. Learning photography on film meant learning the how to truly use a camera, and understanding all the technical details of photography which in turn enables me to get it right in camera. That was priceless training. Understanding my camera inside and out, allow me to focus my attention on you and making the photo shoot experience amazing for you. Sometimes I feel like I can see better looking through a camera lens.
Some other random things about me:
I love to garden and can and plant flower beds. I play drums and guitar in our church worship band. I have coached High School sports, and taught school for 5 years. I am a small town girl. I love to shop at thrift stores and am somewhat addicted to vintage dresses. I love to go to yard sales with my mom and daughter. I love fashion. I love old things. Our home is 101 years old, and I think that’s really cool. I love fixing things up and repurposing them into something new. I have owned and ran a coffee shop restaurant with my parents named “The Chatterbox”. It was cool and I still miss the food, especially the “Hotty Hen with a Pig” (it was a pizza). I visit my, now 88 year old, grandma daily. I say my prayers. I didn’t start drinking coffee until I was in my 30s. I have been to the British Isles to compete in track. I love to go camping, and do anything in the outdoors. I love studying business. I have a BS in Education, which I think sounds funny. We have a rabbit, a cat, and 2 dogs. Being a mommy is the best thing in the world.
